Favorites | December & January 2015

My last few "monthly favorites" posts, have been products that were collected over two months, rather than one, because the truth is, I really don't try too many products within one month. So, I think this is going to be a regular thing on this blog. With that said, here are my December/January favorites!

1. Lush - Imperialis Face Moisturizer: I purchased this face lotion back in November because I was struggling to find a moisturizer that would help keep my skin hydrated through the winter months. The first time I tried this lotion, I was not a fan. I thought it felt greasy on the skin, it left me shiny, and didn't absorb very well, but I continued to use it because LUSH products have a shelf life, and this wasn't something I could chuck in my drawer of products to try again later. After about two weeks of applying in the morning and at night, I noticed the issues I had with the lotion feeling greasy/shiny were gone, and there was definitely a change in the texture of my skin. The areas that were dry were no longer flaking, areas that I usually experience bumps and redness had calmed down quite a bit, and I also noticed that the foundations that usually cling to dry patches were applying seamlessly. This product will definitely be a re-purchase for me.

2. Bobbi Brown - Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner: I've been testing out many different eyeliner methods lately-gel liner, liquid, pressed powder-because my eyelids melt and smudge just about everything and one of the more noteworthy products has been the Bobbi Brown gel liner. It has become a new favorite of mine because it is very opaque, it has pretty good lasting power, and the consistency makes it easy to apply with precision. I still get a little bit of transfer after a long day, but as long as I apply a good base (like MAC painterly paint pot) I don't have too huge of a problem with it.

3. MAC Lipstick - Brave: I don't know if I can say anything that hasn't already been said about MAC lipsticks...They are perfection. The formula is great. The color payoff is fantastic. They are fairly inexpensive (compared to ANY OTHER LIPSTICK). MAC has a ton of shades and finishes to choose from. And they have this very distinct smell, which is quite nostalgic to me, as my mom used to wear MAC lipsticks. The one I've been wearing the most lately is Brave, which I would describe as a pretty rose-nude color.  This is definitely one of those "Kylie Jenner" colors. It is a MAC satin finish, but I would say it applies more like a matte finish. It can be a little bit drying, so that's something to keep in mind. Otherwise, it's a great, everyday color and I have been wearing it like crazy.

4. Lancome- Définicils Waterproof - High Definition Mascara: I have been desperately been looking for a good lengthening and voluminous mascara that gives me that feathery lash look, that also doesn't flake or smudge throughout the day. This Lancome mascara checks almost every box. It's pretty buildable, so it gives me the length and volume I like, without getting clumpy or spidery. It's waterproof, but not so waterproof that it is impossible to come off, and I haven't had any issues with it flaking or smudging, which is a major plus.

5. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: I know this is an extremely well loved product among beauty bloggers, and I know I'm extremely late to join the bandwagon, but I was skeptical because all of the hype this product has. I was also skeptical because my under-eyes crease like a mofo and in my experience, extremely creamy concealers are the culprit. My last visit to Sephora, I finally decided to try this baby out. I was really amazed at how well it concealed not only my under-eye area, but also any blemishes I had on my face. Like I mentioned, it is super creamy, so I do have to set the concealer with a powder, because if I don't, I'll have a creasy, mascara/eyeliner smudge mess, but that's nothing that can't be fixed.

6. Moroccan Oil - Nourishing Leave-In Cream: My hair is getting a pretty long and it can be hard to manage, because my hair is naturally very curly. I've trying some different products, like serums, conditioners, oils, etc., just to see what works, and this Leave-In Cream has been a stand out product. It defines my curls without leaving the crunchy (like a gel would). It doesn't weigh my hair down too much, and it smells really good. I apply this to my hair when it is still dripping wet then I scrunch it with a microfiber towel (so my hair doesn't frizz), and I let it air dry.

7. Orange Is the New Black: This isn't pictured because I don't have the DVD set or my laptop to show you, but I finally watched the first season of Orange is the New Black (I KNOW, HOW LATE AM I?), and it was so good. If you're living under a rock, like I have been for the last couple years, OITNB is a Netflix Original Drama-Comedy series about different women in prison. I don't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but it is available on Netflix, so you should absolutely check it out. I can't wait to watch season 2.
